The Good Wine is an Afro-fusion, genre-bending music duo based in London, made up of Kennedy "Kachi" Iyeh and Jennifer "Aima" Onwochei. Since launching on July 12, 2024, they've built a sound that pulls from Afrobeat, Highlife, and Soul, and pushes it somewhere new; old-school warmth stitched into modern texture, familiar and unplaceable at the same time. Sometimes they call it Afrofolk.
Their influences run wide: Asa, The Cavemen, Midnight Crew, Frank Edward, TY Bello, Kore and Kokoroko sit alongside legends like Onyeka Owenu, Eddy Okwedy, Sir Victor Uwaifo, and Lagbaja, and further out, Tracy Chapman, Peter Tosh, and the Peacock's Guitar Group. That range shows up in the music, less a genre than a sound only they could make.
For Kachi and Aima, a song isn't just a piece of art; it's a record of a moment lived. "Each sound is created from our experiences and connections to everyday living," they've said, and that's the throughline across the catalogue: faith, love, and the ordinary texture of life, folded into sound.
The Good Wine is close to a full production house in its own right; the duo write, record, arrange, shoot, and edit their own videos, and handle their branding and visual identity. Nothing passes through a third party untouched.
With more than 20 songs released since their debut, The Good Wine has earned their place across homes and hearts around the world. After two EPs, all eyes are now on their debut album, a date yet to be confirmed. In the two years since forming, they've played five shows ranging from intimate, curated sets to crowds of 2,000+, across Birmingham, London, Lagos and now Milton Keynes.
